I am an idiot

I am confessing right now I have been a snob.  I either ignored or flat out dismissed some wonderful titles in youth and teen fiction.  I  have no excuses.  Yes, I glanced at this stuff and read the reviews but I never embraced any of the youth/teen fiction as a real option for my own personal reading.  I am now a convert and am reorganizing my reading list. Recently I finished Suzanne Collins' the Hunger Games and I am about half way through Avi's Crispin: Cross of Lead. I will have no trouble book talking these to young people, but what surprises me are how many adults I know that would really enjoy these titles as well.  I didn't even take my own advice.  Shame on me.  Well,  I have learned and can't wait to reach new readers.

  1. Um chaaaa! That's basically all I read and I'm an adult... kinda.

Mary, if you liked Hunger Games you have to finish the series, AND you should check out some of my other faves of a similar vein: Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Rysn and the Gone series by Michael Grant. Seriously, embrace the scifi-ish-distopian-esque goodness.

PS. I clicked on ALB several times today. I predict your and Holly's blogs becoming my new mainstay while I'm working @ my new job :) Gotta have something to do! The reference librarian told me I should start bringing a book to work because of all the down time...
